Motorsport Ranch Club RaceMay 30 2005Intermittent rain made for very dicey racing conditions as the track gets extremely slippery, almost like driving on ice. Ned qualified on the pole in class me and built a large lead until the rains began. Two spins in consecutive corners resulted in more conservative driving and a 2nd place finish. Look for videos of the start and both spins on the video page soon. CVAR Marvelous May RacesMay 23 2005It was an up and down weekend for the team as Ed had fuel pickup problems that kept him from finishing most of the races. Ned had some good runs but a mechanical issue forced him to drop out after two laps in Saturday afternoon’s feature just when he was bearing down on a 2nd place position. This caused Ned to start at the back of the field in 19th position Sunday morning but he quickly worked his way to 5th during the 20 minute event. First Race of 2005March 20 2005Cullen Racing attended the Porsche Club Race at Texas World Speedway (TWS) this past weekend. Qualifying on the I class pole Ned managed to set a new I class track record and and finished 1st in both races Saturday. A battle between the #17 944 and Ned's #12 911 in the second sprint race saw this track record fall. Sunday did not prove to be so lucky for Cullen Racing. A long pit stop and pit strategy decisions had Ned finishing 4th in the 90 minute enduro. Ned Wins Final Race of 04November 07 2004Driving his little 911T (130hp) against more powerful competing 911S and 240Z cars, Ned managed to capture the overall and class win Sunday morning. Starting 6th and slowly moving through the field Ned was able to take the lead with 2.5 laps remaining and open a gap large enough to negate the horsepower advantage of the more powerful cars on the big TWS front straight. This was accomplished by turning a lap time 1.1 seconds faster than the next faster competitor leading to a 4.6 second lead over second place. Check back soon for in car video clips from Saturdays race. Father & Son Battle on TrackSeptember 14 2004During the final race Sunday (9/12) afternoon the father and son team of Cullen Racing had a spirited battle for third place overall in the CVAR Group 7 race. Starting 8th Ned quickly jumped into 3rd place within the first 3 corners but was passed on the large front straight by Ed and the other higher horsepower Porsches. Over the next 5 laps Ed and Ned swapped places 3 times until Ned finally made the pass stick for the final 2 laps. Look for Ned to compete at the final vintage race of the year November 5th and 6th at Texas World Speedway in College Station. Porsche Parade Race at TMSJuly 11 2004The first ever Porsche Parade Club Race (annual gathering of Porsche enthusiasts) was held July 9 and 10 at Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth Texas. Ned Cullen driving the #12 Porshce 911T finished second in class I after a great battle in which the lead was swapped 3 times per lap for the first half of the race. The second race of the day featured a Formula Libre style start in which the field is handicapped so that everyone should cross the finish line at the same time. Starting 11th with over a 1 lap penalty the the first car out Ned managed to finish 3rd overall by turning quick and consistant lap times. Saturday was brisk but sunny which lead to some great racing and Ned finishing 2nd in C-Production. Sunday brought a cloudy sky and colder temperatures (for Texas). The clouds kept the track from warming up which made grip a precious commodity and lap times drop significantly from Saturdays racing. Ed Wins C-Production TitleNovember 02 2003With 1 point shy of a perfect score, Ed Cullen captured the CVAR C-Production title for 2003. Finishing second in class on Saturday (11/1) locked up the title for Ed in what was a very hot weekend. Temperatures and humidity hovering in the mid 80s all weekend made for very uncomfortable racing and spectating. Weekend results included Ed finishing second in class and Ned finishing 6th in class after starting from the back of the field on Saturday. Sundays results included Ed finishing 3rd and Ned coming home in 4th on the big track at Texas World Speedway. Class win for Cullen RacingOctober 14 2003With back to back weekend races at Hallett Motor Circuit the senior member of Cullen Racing (Ed) follows up a second (CVAR - October 5th) with the H class win during the Porsche Club Race on October 12th. Look for both Cullen Racing Porsches to be on the track November 1-2 at Texas World Speedway south of College Station. #12 on A&M CampusOctober 09 2003Ned will be on the Texas A&M Campus the afternoon of October 31st to participate in the CMIS Case Study briefing from 3-5pm, briefing will take place in the Wehner Building. The #12 will be viewable in the parking lot of the Wehner Building from approximately 2:30-5:30pm on 10/31. Hallett Vintage Races - Thunder on the Cimarron October 08 2003Both cars performed well at the Thunder on the Cimarron Vintage races at Hallett Motor Circuit. After a hard hit with the tire wall in March this was Neds first race since the repairs were completed. Sunday saw Ed racing hard for the overall win but coming up short for 2nd against a well sorted 240Z. Ned fought a tough battle for 3rd in class/4th overall against a much lighter Caterham Super 7. Texas Motor Speedway Weekend May 31 2003The team had some good and bad last weekend on the TMS road course. Sprint race on Saturday went very well with Ed finishing second in class. The enduro (1 hour) on Sunday started on a very positive note with a perfect pit stop under a full course caution which put the team in the class lead. With Ned in the car running fast lap times (with limited practice) the team was in a great position to take the win. At the 24 minute the gear box got stuck in 2nd which forced a early retirement with a 3rd place class finish. Ned's car has exited the body shop and will now get a few mechanical issues sorted out and will be on track in September. Heartbreaking Results from TWSMarch 25 2003A missed shift and the wall kept Ned from sweeping victory in the sprint and enduro races last weekend at the Porsche Club Race at Texas World Speedway. Qualifying on the class pole for both events a missed shift during Saturday's sprint race cost 2 positions for a third place finish. After over an hour of heated competition with the #17 944 during the 1.5 hour enduro a competitor forced Ned offline which sent him into the tire barrier exiting turn 9. Ed had a much better weekend with a fourth place finish in the sprint and a second place finish in Sunday's enduro. Going RacingFebruary 17 2003Seems like this day would never get here and after attending the Rolex 24 at Daytona it seemed even longer. Cullen Racing helps Texas A&M with Fund Raiser September 22 2002This picture features Miss USA, Kandace Krueger, and was taken during the Big Event Fund Raiser at Kyle Field on the Texas A&M campus. The car, positioned in a high visibility area located right outside the entrance to the stadium, was seen by thousands of Aggies as they toured the new Zone section of Kyle Field. Cullen Racing team members were on hand to answer questions and give in-car demonstrations. Imagine the publicity your company would have received as a Cullen Racing sponsor at this event!!!
